1982-2002
20 years of cooperation with the Chachi people (7000 Indians) in the last tropical rainforest on the Pacific coast, Esmeraldas province, Ecuador. All necessary projects in various areas, including the surveying and legal allocation of the traditional settlement area.
1992-2004
12 years of cooperation with the Pilahuines, highland Kichwa in the province of Tungurahua, Ecuador (about 5000 mountain farmers). Mainly ecological production and marketing of agricultural goods. Extensive water project. Training courses and study grants.
Purchase and furnishing of a large house as a hostel in the capital Quito near the market square. Here the mountain farmers traveling with their goods find shelter and protection during the market days.
since 1997
Nationwide health project for indigenous peoples in Ecuador:
Coast – Highlands – and for the first time also in the Amazon region: cooperation with four peoples in the provinces of Pastaza and Morona-Santiago.
March 2002
First „alternative round“ on renewable energies in Puyo, Pastaza province, Ecuador, in cooperation with the Weihenstephan/Freising University of Applied Sciences
April 2002
Start of the AMAZONICA pilot project on „Saving our tropical rainforest by supporting its indigenous inhabitants“. Development work in model communities of three peoples, sustainable models in various areas.
June 2002
UNESCO grants its patronage to the AMAZONICA projects.
November 2005
Second „Alternative Round“ on renewable energies in Quito, together with the Polytechnic EPN, Quito, the Weihenstephan University of Applied Sciences, the European Climate Alliance and the DED.
In 2006
Implementation of the largest malaria campaign in the Amazon region (until mid-2007), installation of the first medical infrastructure away from the road network > VIDEOTHEK/Webinar 4/Gegen Windmühlenflügel
2007
Completion of the first phase of the pilot project.
Establishment of the AMAZONICA Foundation.
2008
The second phase of the pilot project begins in the model communities and in six other villages. Cooperation agreement with the University of Cuenca, Ecuador. The academy begins its work, although the buildings are not yet finished: one-year „Seminar for Indigenous Leaders“. The first graduate student from Munich University of Applied Sciences works in Sharamentsa for two months.
from 2009
Over 200 villages want to take part in the pilot project for community development. German universities and universities of applied sciences send students and lecturers on internships and interdisciplinary case studies.
2010
The building infrastructure for the academy grows at the Sharamentsa/Achuar and Yuwints/Shuar sites.
2015
Foundation of the AMAZONICA Akademie gemeinnützige GmbH in Germany.
